National Parks Birthday Tuesday

The National Parks birthday is Tuesday. The national park service is celebrating their 99th birthday Tuesday August 25, 2015. That day is called Founders Day. Many national parks do charge an admittance fee that will be waived on Founders Day. This Founders Day on August 25 will be the start of a year-long celebration that is the kickoff to the big Centennial Celebration in 2016! President Woodrow Wilson signed into legislation the creation of the National Park Service 99 years ago on August 25, 1916. Now, 99 years later there are 408 National Parks throughout the United States.

North Carolina has several National Parks and Tuesday would be a great day to visit one and help celebrate Founders Day. Here are just a few of the many National Parks located in the state…
